This let me go and catch all the version-specific guys without playing through the whole game.Īnd Celebi is not exactly the ONLY promo Pokemon in the history of the series that can be legitimately caught inside the game. I also remember transferring the save game from Red to Blue via a save game device - I had a hunch that the games were so similar that the saves from one would work on the other, and I was right. I GameSharked my Mew on my old cartridge. They even included a special Move Tutor in Pokemon XD that would specifically train Mew with various moves. In the old games, he was pretty worthless, but in the newer games he's great. Otherwise all of these Pokemon (Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Manaphy, etc.) have only been obtainable through promotions. The only legit "hidden" Pokemon in the history of the series that is obtainable WITHIN the game (whether that be US version, Japanese version or European version) was Celebi within the Japanese Crystal version which required the cell-phone connectivity. Outside of that, the link posted earlier is legit, and is the only controlling way of getting Mew and was discovered probably 2 to 3 years ago. This glitch method is more random then actually controlling and due to the game being in the middle of the internet becoming mainstream it made it difficult for there to be concrete information on why or how it was happening. They are simply elaborating on the basis that because the game was so popular due to word of mouth, it wasn't shocking that the glitch from Mew also caught on fast where people started wild rumors about how to obtain him (hence the truck being the biggest of them all). There is a glitch that you can manipulate within the game that uses the hex codes which can randomly allow for you to run into Mew. I was hoping someone here might have imported a launch copy of Red/Green and found out or had Japanese contacts etc.No, that's not what they are saying in the article. It wasn't the truck either I think, unfortunately they don't elaborate on it in the interview.
